• Childcare allowance –paid by the Central Office of Labour, Social Affairs and Family to the parent or a guardian who is caring for the child and pays childcare expenses. More information ↗︎ >
• Substitute childcare support – Paid by the Central Office of Labour, Social Affairs and Family; the payment is to ensure the maintenance of dependant child if the obliged person (parent or guardian) does not comply with the final court maintenance order or a court approved arrangement. • Fostered child allowance – A group of allowances paid by the Central Office of Labour, Social Affairs and Family; to dependant children and foster parents. This could be for example, a recurring allowance for a child or foster parent, or a one-off contribution payment to a child at the time of entering or leaving foster care. More information ↗︎ >
• Travel allowance - Can be paid by the municipality to the parent of the child, which is placed in the Centre for Children and Family in order to maintain relations between the child and the parent. More information ↗︎ >
• Financial support for care leavers – young adult – Paid by:
  • the Centre for Children and Families (= children's home) will make a one-off financial contribution to the young adult care leaver, to aid in becoming independent and to provide housing and necessities connected to housing, as well as training for work, up to the maximum amount of 15 times the living subsistence minimum for dependant child.
  • if they are entitled to an allowance from the Centre, a young adult may apply to their local municipality/city for the amount of 30% of the contribution provided by the Centre. More information about how to apply for financial support at the Bratislava municipality can be found below

• Social bursary (hardship stipend) – Paid by the school for full-time secondary school students or students of the 1st or 2nd level of higher education if their family suffers financial hardship. Bratislava, the Capital of the Slovak Republic, provides a financial grant for the young adults leaving the care pursuant to Section 69 of Act No. 305/2005 Coll. on Social and Legal Protection of Children and on Social Guardianship, as amended.

What you need to make an application?

A young adult who is entitled to apply for Young Adult Care Leaver Grant pursuant to Section 68 of Act No. 305/2005 Coll.  ↗︎ will be provided a grant by the city to the amount of 30% of the financial contribution for the Young Adult Care Leavers according to Section 68, and under the following conditions:

• if the young adult applies for the allowance within 30 days of leaving the care,
• had a permanent residency in Bratislava at the time of their placement in the Centre for Children and Family,
• as long as the young adult care leaver has not been granted a child savings allowance by the municipality under the cited Act in force before 31.5.2018.
